Eligibility Details & Educational Qualification

Score Card Requirement: Candidates must have a valid UPSSSC PET 2023 Score Card with non-zero positive marks to be eligible for the AGTA Mains examination.
Educational Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry from a university established by law in India. Alternatively, candidates with a B.Tech degree in Agricultural Engineering are also eligible to apply for these Technical Assistant posts. Document Upload 2026: Candidates who have cleared the written stage must now upload their final degree certificates, marksheets, and category certificates for the Document Verification (DV) process. Failure to upload clear and legible copies before 05 April 2026 will result in the cancellation of candidature. |
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
AGTA Mains Exam Pattern
- Exam Mode: The Mains examination is conducted in an offline OMR-based format.
- Subject Focus: The paper is primarily focused on Agriculture Science (65 Marks), Computer Knowledge (15 Marks), and Uttar Pradesh General Information (20 Marks).
- Total Questions: The question paper contains 100 multiple-choice questions.
- Marking System: Each question carries 1 mark. There is a 1/4 (0.25) negative marking for every wrong answer.
- Duration: Candidates are provided a total of 120 minutes (2 Hours) to complete the test.
- Agriculture: Soil Science, Crop Production, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, and Agricultural Economics.
- UP Special: History, Culture, Geography, and current schemes of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
- Reasoning & Computers: Fundamental concepts of hardware, software, and logical analytical reasoning.
Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Based on the PET 2023 score card, candidates are shortlisted for the Mains Exam.
- Mains Examination: A subject-specific competitive test is held to determine the primary merit.
- Document Upload & Verification: Successful candidates are required to upload their digital documents for initial scrutiny in 2026.
- Physical Verification: Candidates are called to the UPSSSC office for physical verification of original certificates.

Salary / Pay Scale (Technical Assistant)
The UP Agriculture Technical Assistant (AGTA) is a Group C position offering a stable and attractive salary structure.
1. Pay Scale: Selected candidates will be placed in the pay band of 5,200 to 20,200 with a Grade Pay of 2,400. According to the 7th Pay Commission, this corresponds to Pay Matrix Level 4.
2. Monthly In-hand Salary: The estimated starting in-hand salary including all allowances ranges between 29,500 to 34,800 per month depending on the city of posting.
3. Allowances: Apart from the basic pay, the employee receives:
