| Short Information: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has reached a critical phase in the CEPTAM 11 recruitment cycle for the year 2025-26. Candidates who successfully registered for the various technical positions, including Senior Technical Assistant-B (STA-B) and Technician-A (Tech-A), can now access their Tier I Examination City details. This recruitment drive is a prestigious opportunity to work within India’s premier defense research agency. The Tier I exam is scheduled for late March 2026, and candidates are advised to verify their designated exam centers and download their hall tickets as soon as they are released. This stage is a Computer Based Test (CBT) that serves as the primary screening process for all technical aspirants. |

Eligibility Details & Vacancy Information

1. Senior Technical Assistant (STA-B): Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) or a Diploma in Engineering/Technology/Related Science in the relevant subject/discipline from a recognized board or university.
2. Technician-A (Tech-A): Applicants must have passed the 10th Standard (Matric) or equivalent from a recognized board. Additionally, a valid ITI Certificate in the specified trade from an NCVT/SCVT recognized institute is mandatory. 3. Final Year Candidates: Please note that only those who have completed their results before the closing date of the application are considered eligible for the 2025 recruitment cycle. |
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Detailed Exam Pattern (Tier I)
- Mode of Examination: The Tier I exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
- Section A (Screening): Focuses on Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and English Language (Basic).
- Section B (Subject Specific): For STA-B, questions are based on the degree/diploma level of the chosen subject. For Tech-A, questions focus on the ITI trade syllabus.
- Total Marks: The examination usually consists of 120 questions to be solved in 90 minutes.
- Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in the CEPTAM 11 Tier I examination.
- General Intelligence: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogies, and spatial orientation.
- Quantitative Ability: Number systems, algebra, geometry, and basic statistics.
- General Awareness: Defense news, current affairs, Indian history, and scientific research.
- Technical Trade: Core concepts related to Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or specific ITI trades like Fitter or Electrician.
Selection Process
- Tier I (CBT): A preliminary screening test for all applicants to shortlist candidates for the next round.
- Tier II (Trade/Skill Test): For Technician-A, a practical skill test is conducted. For STA-B, Tier II is a descriptive or advanced technical CBT.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must present original academic and category certificates.
- Medical Fitness: Candidates must pass the medical standards required for defense research personnel.
- Final Merit: Prepared based on the combined performance of written tests and trade tests where applicable.

Salary / Pay Scale Details
DRDO offers a highly rewarding pay structure as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
1. STA-B Pay Scale: Placed in Pay Level 6 (#35,400 to #1,12,400). The initial gross salary including HRA and DA is approximately #55,000 – #62,000.
2. Technician-A Pay Scale: Placed in Pay Level 2 (#19,900 to #63,200). The initial gross salary is approximately #32,000 – #38,000.
3. Additional Benefits:
